StudioPress is happy to announce the release of the AgentPress 1.0 child theme. This new child theme works on the Genesis Theme Framework and can be downloaded by Pro Plus members in the support forum. All others can purchase the AgentPress child theme package here.

If you have already purchased the Genesis Theme Framework and any other child theme, you can simply purchase the child theme by itself, otherwise you need the AgentPress + Genesis Theme package.

Take AgentPress for a test drive…

We have also closed down the AgentPress.com website/support forum and merged that here on StudioPress – you can read more about the reasoning behind that if you wish. For those of you who have purchased the original AP theme, your forum account has been merged into the StudioPress forum, and you should now have access to AgentPress “classic” support forum, as well as the ability to download Genesis and the AP child theme for no additional charge.

AgentPress: “classic” Theme vs. “child” Theme

I’m sure there will be many questions, so I’ll cut to the chase – first and foremost, the most significant change is that the AgentPress child theme works with the Genesis Theme Framework. This is a robust theme framework that is now the foundation of all of our themes going forward. The frameworks’ code security is top notch (we hired WordPress lead developer Mark Jaquith to audit the code) and it has been fully search engine optimized. More about Genesis and why it’s so great….

We have changed the way we handle the Property post template – property detail fields are now customizable in the dashboard, and we’ve introduced shortcodes to place content such as the photo gallery (which, by the way is now using the organic WordPress image gallery), property detail sections and property maps. All in all, the process by which a Listing is entered and displayed is much easier now. More about the AgentPress child theme features…

You will need to load, BOTH, the Genesis parent theme and the AgentPress child theme for it to work – just activate the AgentPress child theme and you’ll be good to go. Unfortunately there isn’t an easy upgrade path for current AgentPress “classic” theme users, but one of the best benefits of Genesis is automatic updates without the need to re-do any design customizations.

Here’s a screenshot of the Theme:

Genesis Theme Framework – version 1.0.2 is now available. This update addresses a few minor bugs that were in the previous version, and also includes a few elements of additional functionality. It’s always suggested you update to the latest version, and with Genesis, updating is a simple thing to do.

Before You Update to Genesis v1.0.2

It’s always advisable to make a backup of your current /genesis/ directory just to be safe. You can simply rename it /genesis_backup/ and then upload the new /genesis/ directory – that way in the event something goes wrong, you still have your working directory.

How to Update to Genesis v1.0.2

Assuming you haven’t made any changes to the core Genesis files, updating to the latest version of the Genesis Theme Framework is very easy. On your server, simply replace the /genesis/ directory in your /wp-content/themes/ directory on your server, with the new one. In other words, you will be replacing the entire Genesis parent theme folder with the new v1.0.2 version. This is the main reason we’ve encouraged everyone to make changes through the child theme, as updating the Genesis Theme Framework is THAT easy.

Where Can I get Genesis v1.0.2?

You can obtain it in two ways, first, we’ll be sending out an updated theme download link to everyone who has purchased Genesis. Second, you can always find the most current version of the theme in the support forum under the Genesis Theme Support > Genesis Theme Download thread.

Here’s What’s Been Added to Genesis v1.0.2

Fixed PARENT_THEME_VERSION definition

Added missing textdomains to text strings

Fixed uses of the_content filter on things that are not post content

Moved enqueue output to footer

Created genesis_do_header() function that it can be unhooked from genesis_header()

Most of the things that have been put into version 1.0.1 are just additional features, and updating to this version is a breeze.

Before You Update to Genesis v1.0.1

It’s always advisable to make a backup of your current /genesis/ directory just to be safe. You can simply rename it /genesis_10/ and then upload the new /genesis/ directory – that way in the event something goes wrong, you still have your working directory.

How to Update to Genesis v1.0.1

Assuming you haven’t made any changes to the core Genesis files, updating to the latest version of the Genesis Theme Framework is very easy. On your server, simply replace the /genesis/ directory in your /wp-content/themes/ directory on your server, with the new one.

We are very happy to announce that the Allure 2.0 theme is now available. For those of you who have already purchased the Allure theme package, you can download the latest copy in the Theme Download thread in the support forums. All others can purchase the Allure theme package here.

New Theme Options
We are also very happy to announce that a new options page has been built for the Allure theme which is more efficient and includes additional options.

Auto-Sized Thumbnails
Another awesome feature with this version of Allure is the ability to now display automatically generated thumbnails on the homepage. You can see that the sizes of your thumbnails can be configured on the options page.

Split/Full Width Header
A common request that we receive for this theme is to make the header full width – thankfully now, with the help of the theme options page, it’s simple. All you need to do is select “Use a full-width header” and then replace the header image with on of your own

Style Switcher
Previous, in order to use the Dark style of Allure, you had to load a completely separate theme – we have integrated the two color options, so that they are based off the same core code, just require you to select which style you want in the theme options page.

Support For Localization
Another awesome feature that is included with the Allure theme is support for localization. We have been asked numerous times if our themes can be localized, and we are going to make sure that all of them can be internationalized into different languages.

Here’s a screenshot of how the new Allure theme options looks:
