So you’ve bought Genesis for your new WordPress blog. Now what?
We know that the idea of setting up hosting, installing WordPress, and installing Genesis and child themes can be intimidating, so we thought we’d offer to take care of it for you. And while we’re in there setting up, we’ll also change your permalinks (the URLs of individual posts and pages on your blog) to a more SEO-friendly format and install a few helpful plugins (Google XML Sitemaps and Subscribe to Comments).
There’s no charge for this service, but please note that this offer only applies to new blogs to be set up on new hosting plans purchased using the instructions below.
Ready to get your free setup? Just follow these easy steps.
Step 1
Click here to open a new window showing hosting plan options, and then click on “View Web Hosting Plans” in the middle of the page or “Web Hosting” along the top.
Please note: Be sure to click on the link above to get your hosting. We can only set up blogs for new hosting plans purchased through the link just given.
Step 2
Click the “Order Now” button under the hosting plan you’d like to sign up for. (We suggest the “Baby” plan because you can put an unlimited number of websites on that one plan.)
Step 3
If you will be registering a new domain name to use with this blog, enter the domain name you’d like in the box on the left. Or, if you already have a domain name, enter that domain name in the box on the right.
Optional: Before leaving this page, change the coupon code at the bottom to genesisblog. This will save you $9.94, effectively making your first month of hosting cost only one cent.
Step 4
On the billing information screen, choose a username and fill in your billing information, and then click the “Create Account” button at the bottom.
Step 5
Go to your email and look for a new message from Hostgator. Open it, and note that Hostgator has randomly chosen a password for you. Also, look for the “Control Panel” link, as shown here:

Step 6
Fill in the form below (including the password (not “security PIN”) and Control Panel link from the Hostgator email mentioned above) and within a few days, we’ll contact you with instructions on how to access and log in to your new blog!
