I am looking for suggestions on a good plugin to use to manage my 404 page. I simply want to control which pages are seen on the 404 page. For example, I don’t want the landing pages I have created to show up on the 404 page.
I don’t want to edit any of the code in my theme. I am looking for a simple way to do this via plugin or if there is another simple way… I am using the studiopress News Theme on my site.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I know you said you don’t want to edit code but it is simple actually.
You would just copy 404.php from genesis directory into the child theme and edit it.
<?php //wp_list_pages( 'title_li=' ); ?>
<?php wp_list_pages( 'title_li=&exclude=2,38' ); ?>
where 2 and 38 are the IDs of Pages that you want to exclude.
A plugin like http://wordpress.org/plugins/reveal-ids-for-wp-admin-25/ can be used to display IDs of Pages in the backend.
What about the Genesis 404 page plugin? You can find it here: http://wordpress.org/plugins/genesis-404-page/
I love it. Gives me control over what I want others to see – also gives me an opportunity to suggest the visitor opt in for any free reports, etc.
Just a thought.
