    Hello

    I’d like to add a div container after the header containing either the page/category title on the left and the search input field on the right like here: http://www.wpexplorer.com/beginners-guide-to-wordpress-blogging/

    what I can’t figure out yet is how to output the breadcrumbs conditionally and wrap it into a container.

    any help is very much appreciated.

    Thanks

    Please use this tutorial to add a widget site wide. http://www.briangardner.com/welcome-text-widget/

    You can change the CSS in the tutorial to suit your needs and also change the position of the bar using genesis_hooks

    if I’d use a widget area, how do I put the breadcrumbs and the search form in there?

    let me try to explain again – below the header I’d like to show a div container with the breadcrumbs on the left and the search form on the right – depending on the page e.g. single blog page, I’d like to show the category title instead of the breadcrumbs like on the wpexplorer page. – is the a shortcode in genesis to output the  breadcrumbs?

    I think I got it although I don’t know whether that’s the way to do it:

    function custom_page_title() { ?>

     <div id="full-title">
     <div class="wrap">

     <?php

     if ( !is_single()) { ?>

     <h1><i class="icon-copy"></i>
     <?php
     $cat = get_the_category();
     echo $cat[0]->cat_name;
     ?>
     </h1>

     <?php } else {

     genesis_do_breadcrumbs();

     }

     get_search_form();

     ?>

     </div>
     </div>

     <?php }
