Hi all, I hope you all are doing well. My name is Tony and I am new to the forum. I am having big fun making small changes to my new Lifestyle theme. I really no nothing about coding so I am somehow stumbling through it all. I was hoping to get a little help here if possible. I would like to know if some one could instruct me or direct me to the needed information regarding how to add a widget to the top of my Lifestyle Theme home page only. I would like the widget to be below the lower nav bar and above my first post excert. I need the widget to be a specific size so I can fit in media 600 x 400 pix. My site url is http://internetbusinessmastery.info if you would like to see what iam talking about. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Can anyone here give some instruction on how to do this? Please...I found some info about how to do it for one theme but not for the lifestyle .
I set up Lifestyle on my local server (desktop) with the latest WP and the latest Genesis 1.9.1 and I could not make it work as it should either! You should be able to add a widget into the Home section in the Widgets section ( you can add more than one widget and I have done so frequently. ) But I found oddly enough that it wasn't working. Will test on a real server.
I'm using PHP 5.3
I tried it on a live server and it worked. I had the settings > reading > set to blog posts. In the widget area I added a test widget (just text) and under that added the Genesis featured posts widget displaying 10 posts with image etc etc, and it worked. Not sure why it didn't work on the localhost but there you go.
I want to thank you both for your advice and help. I am a little closer to getting the widget on my homepage because of you and the information you provided. Susan one question if you know is the tutorial you sugested can I use it to wigitize my home page only. or will I need different instruction? Thank you guys again.
