I’m trying to add an image map to a header image and this Genesis framework is a bit foreign to me. I believe I need to add a hook in the functions.php file of my child theme but I’m not sure how this works. Can anyone give me a little guidance on this?

Have you tried the Genesis Simple Hooks plugin? With it, you should be able to paste your image map code directly into the genesis_header hook.

Or you could use CSS to position another image over your existing header image http://wpsites.net/web-design/display-widget-text-content-over-image-in-genesis/

    Andrea and Brad,
Thank you very much for your suggestions. I will give them a try and let others know what worked best for this.
