    Hi

Can anyone please tell me how to add a widget area above the footer area on the Genesis Crystal child theme?

I want to position approx five association logos horizontally across the page on a rectangular area similar in size and shape to the footer and just above it (see http://www.keithball.co.uk ). I’ve googled several tutorials about adding widget areas which seem to involve a two step process, the first part involving editing the php file and the second part involving editing the child theme file. I’ve never edited a php file before so I want to be sure about the process.

    Many thanks

You could start with this tutorial – http://www.briangardner.com/welcome-text-widget/.

    Replace where it says – “genesis_before_content_sidebar_wrap” with “genesis_after_content_sidebar_wrap” .

You can name the widget something other than welcome also.

Thanks anitac. How do I l know where to position these extra bits of code in the php file? Doesn’t it really matter where it goes??

That’s the code I gave you. You can see where to place it by using the Visual Hook Guide – http://genesistutorials.com/visual-hook-guide/.

You wanted it above the footer so it should go after the content.

** Oh the code is telling it where it should go – the position.**
