Is it best practice to rename a child theme (e.g. Metro) so that you are not affected by theme updates that could ruin your design?
My understanding is that new child theme updates will overwrite your customisations, so you can either keep a wary eye on the updates section and make sure you don't update by mistake, or rename the child theme for peace of mind. Am I correct?
Yes but many clients just update everything including themes, so there is a real possibility that they will overwrite the theme I created for them.
Any further answer on this?
