Im wondering if anyone has a best practices method for migrating a Genesis powered site from one host to another or local production to hosted without everything ending up getting broken in the process?
Transferring via SQL and doing a WP export/import does not carry over widgets and any custom Genesis settings (even using the Genesis import/exporter it still does not always carry over everything)
The WP Migrate DB plugin is excellent.
I have written many tutorials about migration using different methods and this is the best in my opinion.
It does a search and replace for url's and file paths.
All you do then is:
1. create a new DB and import the SQL file,
2. upload your files,
3. edit your wp-config with the new db details and you're done.
