Whats the best way to move a site from one server to another?
Here is what I normally do.
1. down the wp-content folder.
2. upload that folder to the new Wp installation on the new site
3. export the database from mysql
4. drop the new sites mysql databse and upload the new ones.
5. reactivate all the plugins and themes.
6. use find and replace to change the path for the images etc.
But even when do that things till don’t work. Ie. just did all that and the WP-Cycle has no content so I have to redo all that. I just lost all my homepage widgets. Have to redo all that.
What am I missing?
Thanks

November 28, 2012 at 11:46 am #2056I used backup buddy for the first time yesterday and it is super easy. Plus you can get it for 35% off right now.

November 28, 2012 at 3:08 pm #2137Is it worth getting their other plugins? or just back up buddy?
November 28, 2012 at 4:33 pm #2156I only use BackupBuddy. I’ve looked at their other plugins but honestly just don’t have a need for them. If I ever do I’m sure they are worth it based on the quality of BackupBuddy.
November 28, 2012 at 5:03 pm #2165It looks like there are several plugins out there that do what their other ones do. Maybe I will do just Backup Buddy.

Billboard is extremely useful for creating ads (images & links) for sidebar widgets.
The majority of the other iThemes plugins that come with the Developer package do not work with Genesis themes.
If hosting is with GoDaddy you could experience some problems with BackupBuddy, however they are all fixable,.
