I installed the Genesis Featured OPosts Widget to simulate Agency Pro template. I was following the setup tutorial. I created 6 posts in a category called "portfolio" I see that I can order by Date, ID, Parent, Title, Comment Count, Random. I have picky designers and I know they will want to change thorder after I have them created. What is your trick to handle the order arrangement when a widget like this pulls posts from a category. BTW, I added an extra row of three as a test.

And welcome to the fold! After, um, experiences with Joomla, I'm editing my thoughts right now. 😉I've been through your dilemma. One can do fancy database query alteration to get some other sort field, or even sorts on multiple fields. But then the gang might change their minds. 😉
So just relax and enjoy the sheer awesomeness of this plugin:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/post-types-order/I haven't used it with that Featured thingie, but it should work fine with it, I'm pretty sure. I've used it for all kinds of re-sorting and shuffling. It will do Posts and Custom Post Types, which gives it tremendous power and usefulness.
Enjoy,
Dave

I see that I can order by Date, ID, Parent, Title, Comment Count, Random. I have picky designers and I know they will want to change thorder after I have them created. What is your trick to handle the order arrangement when a widget like this pulls posts from a category
So.... your design overlord initially chooses order by Date, descending, then changes up and chooses Comment Count, descending. ?
I'm not sure where the problem is. Wouldn't you just change the sort selection in the widget, save and View Page? (Or what am I missing in your scenario?)
The Genesis Sandbox Featured Content Widget can be used in place of Genesis Featured Content. This provides for 'Meta Value' and 'Numeric Meta Value' as additional sort options, can draw from Custom Post Types and Taxonomies, and allows for use of 18 hooks and 7 filters plus some other stuff.
(While awesome, do note that the current 1.1.4 version of this plugin has a slight problem selecting taxonomies and terms. You might want to start with this version from github.
There are also other plugins available to deliver content, such as Bill Erickson's Display Posts Shortcode. This is available from the WordPress plugin repo but the documentation lives here.
