Hello, I’ve changed a studiopress child theme to a new name, following these instructions:

    http://www.mithusarkar.com/how-to-rename-genesis-child-theme/

but all the widgets disappears, and I have to put them again in the widget areas. Since they are a lot, I’m wondering if there is some smarter way to make the rename mantaining the widgets and settings.

    Thank you in advance.

As far as I am aware, renaming a child theme has the same impact as installing a new theme – you will need to populate any of the widget areas again, but the ones you used with the previous child theme are stored at the bottom of the Widgets screen in the dashboard, so it’s just a matter of dragging them into place. The settings are still there.
