I apologize if this too simple a question, but I can’t seem to find how to set my homepage to a three-column layout. I’m using the News theme and I can see that a 3-column page is available:
I just can’t figure out how to set my homepage to this look.
From the Dashboard go to > Genesis > Theme Settings > Default Layout
and pick any 3 column layout that suits. You can also overide this selection when creating individual pages by picking a different layout.
Thanks for the advice. This technique works for creating a default layout for the individual posts — but not the homepage, which stays in two-column format.
Any thoughts on getting this to work on the homepage too?
You could create a new page with the 3 column layout. Then set that page as your static home page in Settings > Reading
Alternately you could leave the Reading settings alone and choose to use the outstanding Genesis Extender plugin to generate a new home page layout, but it is a premium plugin – http://cobaltapps.com/downloads/genesis-extender-plugin/
I am trying the same, to put the homepage in 3 columns lay-out for news theme. The solution of setting a page as static is not good because you can’t use the widget’s area in a normal page….
As I have worked with education theme, I have taken the home.php from this theme and upload to news theme. It works with the sidebars, but doesn’t let me to widgetize the content page, only the sidebars.
can you help?
