body { font-weight: 300; }
add your color code like this replacing my color code with your own.
background-color: #000000;

I also don't understand why we're given the option to change the background in the theme settings, but when choosing a color, the background remains white. I'm experiencing this with Metro, but get the same results with other themes on other blogs. I get that this kind of thing is second nature to those who know a lot about coding, but Genesis is not only marketed to those individuals, it's also marketed to dummies like me. 😉
- So, still need to know how to change the background color.
I can upload and use an image, but the file size of my image is too huge, loads slowly probably because it's sucking so much bandwidth. Â So, need to figure out how to make the file size of the my image smaller while still having it take up the entire background and not be tiled. It would be great to get rid of the stark white background while I educate myself about the image thing.

May 23, 2013 at 7:42 pm #42387MeMoeMemberWhen I used this theme the first time a few weeks ago I had no problem creating the background color but when I went to create a sister site a days ago the background color added through the Appearance area of the dashboard would show up there but not on the published site. I could put in an image, no problem. I spent over three hours trying to figure out what I did differently from the first site. Including searching the internet with no real solution. After a few more hours I found a difference between the functions.php (via Appearance/Editor) on what are virtually identical sites. I deleted the extra bit of code and, tada! I am posting it here for anyone who wants to try.
The working background:
// Add support for custom background
add_theme_support( 'custom-background' );The non-working background:
// Add support for custom background
add_theme_support( 'custom-background', array( 'wp-head-callback' => '__return_false' ) );Deleting this made the background color work on my site:
array( 'wp-head-callback' => '__return_false' )
I deleted this last section and the color background options works perfectly and the add image feature still works if I decide to use later. I have no idea what the text means or what it does. It is not something I would have deleted from the original site I was working on so I am not sure why the difference. Gremlins?
Good luck!
