Hi, I'm quite new to WordPress and am considering ditching Themeforrest and switching to Genesis after reading so much positive stuff (especially about the support and community). One thing I can't find anywhere is how easy it Genesis for my clients, some who have minimal technical skills, to update site pages?
Themeforrest sites with Page Builders are extremely easy for my clients to understand, find the page you want to modify from the page list, click into the block and change the text. They find it easy to add text blocks, pics etc... too.
I understand there are page builder type plugins like Dynamik available but this just looks like adding another layer of cost and complexity as well as a single point of failure should it stopped being developed/supported at some point in the future.
I'm also a bit puzzled as to why I can't find any info on this. After all, most clients these days want access to their own website and don't want to phone the designer any time they want to update their site.
Any info or advice really welcome before I take the plunge.
Thanks,

Have you requested your free website audit yet?August 26, 2015 at 5:15 am #163548JohnMac67MemberThanks Victor. I've only ever used WordPress through themes like Avada with built in page editors. Would the client just see the output you see when clicking the Default Editor under the page name?
If that's the case then 100% of my clients would be completely lost trying to update their site as it's just loads of code with the page text hidden inside it.
How do you guys instruct your clients on how to keep their sites up to date? A screen grab of a typical Dashboard page would really help me get my head around this.
Thanks again,

Say a client wanted to add a special offer of some kind to a page in the form of a banner which contained a large headline, some text, an image and a button link to another page. Would they be able to do this without resorting to code or would they have to phone me?
Thanks again.
JohnAugust 26, 2015 at 6:47 am #163555Victor FontModeratorThe banner, headline, text, and image are all doable through the WordPress visual editor. A link that looks like a button requires styling, unless you already created the styles for them or found a plugin that could add a button from the WordPress editor.

I guess I'm just surprised that I've looked at loads and loads of pages extolling the many virtues of Genesis from the develop/designer perspective and I can't find a thing on how it works from the clients point of view. Nothing. At the end of the day it's their website, they pay for it and they need to manage it.
I've been using concrete5 and it's SO EASY for clients to add pages, images etc... Even then they sometimes struggle and I've had to do a lot of talk throughs.
I've realised though that the concrete5 falls down on the amount of available plugins and themes. WordPress just seems to offer more for the developer. Not sure at all about the client side though.

I think that's probably because, from a client's perspective, it's the same as adding or modifying content on a WordPress site. It uses the same dashboard, and functions the same way 🙂
