Need advice please re best way to go about copy existing webste static content pages site its text to brand new theme
I am wanting to change an old Genesis theme lifestyle 1.0 to a totally new look theme likely Parallax Pro Theme or something totally different to current old theme. ...
(adding new theme and simply switching is not an option everything content wise goes hay wire as old theme had a lot of certain customization long story). We have various already live pages content that gets nicely google ranked and visitors new clients etc from our on page seo efforts (ie. Usual use of good h1 page title and h2 H3 title)
And have many images already uploaded we want to use same images on same pages (already done alt text descriptions to them on current site) to now use on those pages over in brand new theme, need advice also on bringing those over how to pleaseWhat is best way of going about copying current old text full content and images to new theme please?
My thoughts were;
create subdirectory with new theme make it how I want to look
add same menu names as old site etc
and create new pages of exact SAME page titles and url structure names.Open up a new browser for existing current old theme in wp dashboard view... go to each page (about 12) either copy, paste into word doc... then add to new same named pages in new theme
OR…..
go to code view, copy paste old site content to NEW theme paste ..and re format style layout look to my liking this now pasted in text for that new theme page (and obviosu now new look the elements on the new theme can do etc) and BE SURE to use same named H2, h3 titles are there like old current site.
so same page content, same on page seo used... and page titles etc....just another look of its overall layout when reading now in new theme.
go live when happy with new theme .....
When happy on overall new theme look swap it to site main root folder for that to be now live new theme and same page content is now in there, same title pages same urls is that correct good way to do it all please? Not sure how to go about using same images and copy them over to use and inserton same name pages new theme
I presume copy content images folder and paste in new theme content images?
and when I click add media image go find the ones I used on existing old theme? Please kindly anyone guide me best way and is above ok do do the way I described or better way?
Many thanks

My approach would be to make a copy of the current site on my local development server, and then install the new theme and activate it.From there, I would make all customizations to the stylesheet to match the layout you prefer. It may involve customizing the functions.php and various other page templates.
I'd use the same url structure to preserve SEO if possible or use 301 redirects if needed.

Sorry for the confusion. You don't NEED a local development server, I was just sharing how I would approach the project. Most of what you shared makes sense if you want to cut and paste content from one WordPress install to another. You would need to upload the images again to the new theme. I don't know how many pages you are talking about - so if it just a few that should not take too much time, but if you have a lot of pages and images, this could be a lot of manual work.Copying the new install folder to the live folder without also migrating the database will result in the live site no working as expected or at all. You might be better served by pointing the domain name to the new site location. Check with your hosting company on how to do that.
Always backup everything you do before moving any data or overwriting folders.
Here is some info from WordPress on moving a site:

May 9, 2015 at 10:17 am #151260JennyLonMemberSince my last reply, my contact web guy is going to fresh theme as old one has accumulated too much old bloat on data base plugin used, etc etc and we will simply flow in previous content bit by bit we discussed best option and start over
so all sorted...
