Hello,
I am relatively new to genesis, and I am currently working on genesis sample theme, learning new tricks and so long.
I have a problem; You see, I have three files in my child theme folder: Functions, Style and Front page. Front-page.php is my static page. I would like to create another page on my website that would look exactly the same as my front page.
I have tried creating a new page in dashboard, copying front-page.php file and renaming it to about-page.php, then giving that new page a page template of about-page, and it looks very similar to front page. There are some problems, tohugh.
Firstly, in front page, width of all elements was set to max. I wonder why are elements in about page narrowed.
Secondly, I am using text widgets in sections of my front page. How do I work with widgets on my about page?
Thirdly, can I create a special menu for my about page?
I hope somebody can help me.

good job figuring everything out so far!
1.
Since I don't know how you set up your front-page.php I´ll have to guess that there are different selectors/classes in the css applied to the different page templates.2.
You will have to register new widget areas (with different names) in the functions.php and then follow the example of the front-page.php to set them up in the about template.
After that you can use the widget menu in the dashboard.3.
Yes, you can. Just create a new menu. To assign it to just one page you can try this plugin:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/genesis-simple-menus/
If that´s not getting the result you want, you will have to conditionally unhook the "standard" navigation and hook the new menu in.

I am so glad you answered, it was really helpful.
The first thing I worked out by myself, and yes, it was the body class that was different; apparently when you create a new page via dashboard, it is given certain body class, even though the php file is the same.
I did not even know i can register widget areas for each page in functions, i though that you need to create something like "functions_2" and then link it to the new page. You just saved me a lot of stupid, pointless work.
The plugin you suggested is all I needed.
Thank you very much for your help. I hope that one day I will be skilled as you are so I can help new guys as you do.
