No matter what I do, I can’t get the DCG code to appear in my home.php or functions.php file. The DCG does not appear on the site.

    What am I doing wrong?

The posts on the site are just test posts with featured images to see if the DCG was working.

    site is http://www.ezratachim.com

    Thanks

Why not use the native WordPress gallery?

You could also add a carousel or install Jetpack which includes one.

I’m looking for something to put on the home page and not widget. When I used the lifestyle theme  a while back I didn’t have a problem with it. http://www.great-marriages.net

Can Jetpack do that on the home page?

Where exactly on the home page? Do you want a gallery of images or carousel?

You can paste a shortcode for the gallery anywhere and if you have Jetpack installed, you can enable the carousel so all images in all galleries display in the carousel.

Carousel. I put the DCG into the widget and it seems to come up now.

I never used jetpack but I did install it now. I guess I would put the carousel in the widget?

    No need.

Activate the carousel in the Jetpack settings. It works with the native gallery images and won’t work with other gallery plugins.

You can paste the gallery shortcode into a widget as long as you have added support for shortcodes to parse in widgets.
add_filter(‘widget_text’, ‘do_shortcode’);
Thanks -

    2 questions

    1) I don’t see the ‘carousel’ listed anywhere. It is activated. The only thing I see in my widgets is jetpack ‘image’ with the option to show an image in the widget.

    2) the add_filter(  code goes in the functions.php?

    Thanks for your help.

The carousel works with the native WordPress gallery.

Simply create a gallery and they will display in a Carousel when you click and view them.

    Thats right.

Paste the PHP code at the end of your child themes functions.php file. Then you can use shortcodes in a text widget.

Last question – I hope – Where do you find the shortcode for the gallery?

    Thanks

WordPress will generate it after you create the gallery. When you go to insert the gallery, the shortcode will be generated.
