I'm using the lifestyle pro theme.
1. I set the featured image on a post.
2. I insert the same image in the post as I want it to appear (If I don't the featured image does not appear in the post and I want it there)Result: in the blog list, I see both images.
Q. What do I need to do in order to have the featured image appear in the blog list without the image from the post? OR... Is there a way for WP to use the first image found in a post to be used as the thumbnail shown in the bloglist?
Cheers,

You can remove the featured image from single posts using this code

Here's what's odd. I'm trying to do as you suggest. I have an image in my post and no featured image showing in the bottom right of the post edit page.Oddly enough, when I view my post list, I see two images for this post. A small one and a large one. Almost as if it still thinks there is a featured image.
Any ideas?

You will need to add the code i provided and delete the images you inserted into the post from your media library.

I don't get it though. I want the default behaviour that you describe. From my understanding, if I add a single image in the post, the theme will grab it and display it in the blog list for the blog. AND... the blog itself will naturally display this image...Correct?If so, I shouldn't need to alter the code. correct?
I did this (without the code you provided) and I get duplicate images in the post list. The post looks great with just one image.
Sorry, I'm trying to understand but just don't.
August 28, 2014 at 1:00 pm #121527korg007MemberUPDATE:
I fixed the issue by disabling the "display feature image" in the theme's settings Content Archives.
I didn't think to look there as I didn't think my blog posts would be considered "archives".Thanks again for your assistance braddalton! Much appreciated.
August 28, 2014 at 1:08 pm #121536korg007MemberI spoke too soon.
It's still not working. My post has an image below the readmore, which appears in the post but not in the blog list which contains the post's text above the readmore. What am i missing/doing wrong?

I need to know how to do what I described above.
Cheers,November 18, 2014 at 6:13 am #131972yatinMemberHi braddalton, I am also facing the same problem.
When I placing a featured image for a paticular post, I am seeing the duplication error
When I am removing the featured image option from post edit option or achive content page, then the featured image is not visible
When I am removing the blog page, then only the featured image is visible in small size compared to blog image
Can't we have image (small one) for featured image and same image (large one) for blog post
I am giving you the link, clink on trial post to see the actual cause
