They do take up the full width. Change the widget image sizes to homepage (270 x 80).January 5, 2013 at 9:58 pm #9865
Hey Sir and Ma’am,
If you are still available to assist, I have managed to get the shape I want using text boxes in the widgets and .png’s but I cannot get the pics to center in their columns…if you have a moment to take a look please let me know what you think.January 5, 2013 at 10:02 pm #9866
…I should add that the pics are just there as demo until I get the style right…then I can move on
If I use the Genesis Featured Posts in the widgets the pictures are aligning left and not centering…as you can see from the bottom right of screenJanuary 5, 2013 at 10:07 pm #9868
For some reason I can’t type the align center code in here… so I’m sending you a link. In the code box on the linked page, copy line 1 and put it in front of the current code in the text widget. Then copy the code from line 3 and put it at the end of your current code in the text widget. That should center them for you.January 5, 2013 at 10:08 pm #9870
Oops – it’s getting late, forgot the link: http://www.w3schools.com/tags/att_div_align.aspJanuary 5, 2013 at 10:23 pm #9875
Thanks Buddy…I actually tried something similar to no avail but will try again in case what I had was not similar enough…so to speak…however grats for the adviceJanuary 5, 2013 at 10:27 pm #9876
Tried it on widget three…and you can see the top two pics are aligned left…even thought the code you suggested says right…good job I got no hair…would be pulling it outJanuary 5, 2013 at 10:38 pm #9879
It looks like you are using the featured post widget for the last part of the home middle 3. Try adding this at the very end of your style.css file:

If that doesn’t work, try taking out the featured post widget and hard coding it in with a text widget like you did with all the rest.January 5, 2013 at 11:00 pm #9885
Using the text widgets and coding I actually had it right just using pictures…but as soon as I added the rollover pictures the rollovers moved back to the left on me. I have tried changing the rollover code but it doesn’t work and I have tried changing the pictures so that they are not centered on a transparency but no luck so far. The featured post widget at 3-3 was just an attempt to try something that didn’t work. I will reset back to basics and start again I think…sometimes too many changes can cause more problems than it solves.
The feateured post widgets may work ok if they have wording under them, lilke the ones you showed me in your link earlier…but as just a picture they default left.
Back to the beginning…lolJanuary 5, 2013 at 11:04 pm #9887
With the widgets on http://www.justwright4design.com/…did you have to change anything to make the level up the way they have?January 5, 2013 at 11:09 pm #9888
Nothing there was done with custom coding. I used the Genesis Featured Widget Amplified plugin and set the page I wanted to pull in, set the image to show the homepage size (genesis automatically makes the images rectangular) and then if the widget title was too long, I would use a text widget in between to add breaks to get the spacing to line up. I also used the content limit 270 characters or something like that. That automatically pulls in the first 270 characters of the page text.January 5, 2013 at 11:09 pm #9889
Maybe I can change the featured pictures in the posts so that they are 280 wide and 150 x 150?January 5, 2013 at 11:11 pm #9891
That sounds cool…but the client doesn’t want any addition text…he wants the rollover boxesJanuary 5, 2013 at 11:17 pm #9893
Just installed the widget amplified plugin and it has made a difference already…off to experiment more…lol
