This started happening to me last fall around the time that WordPress launched version 3.8.0. (I just installed 3.8.1) After that update I uninstalled-re-installed all my plugins one by one, re-set all my widgets and my blog formatting is still totally messed up. I am just frankly unable to get a post to publish looking even half way decent! Pictures and words are totally re-arranged from how I view them in the visual editor. I NEVER had a problem with this before and I don’t see why I should need to publish a blog post using the text editor. Visuals are critical to my blog. I’m using Genesis with the Innov8te Child theme. I’ve reached out to both and never heard back from Studio press. Could this be an issue with Host Papa server (I’ve emailed them as well)? I just am fed up and don’t even know where to go from here to fix this!

I used to provide support for the original theme developer. When you add your images are you defining the position – None, Left, Center, Right? Typically how it should work is when you select an image that you do not want the text to wrap around, you would select “None” which would drop your text below the image and not wrap the text. How are you positioning the image?

Suzanne Ahjira wrote a nice tutorial that should help you called “Stop WordPress from Wrapping Images in P Tags.” I think this will be a great fix for you.

I have tried it without defining the position and with defining the position. Neither works!

Try adding Suzanne’s code to your functions file and let me know if it works. If it doesn’t then you’ll need to contact Jessica’s support desk at The Pixelista.

I edited the developer name above. Your using Jessica’s theme and not Lindsey’s.

Well this solution seems like it would probably work but I use a theme so I don’t have to go into CSS and modify stuff! This is totally absurd because it was not a problem before the roll out of 3.8.0! I guess I’ll mess around with it or pay someone to make this change for me quickly.

I understand. Have you tried switching your theme to the default WordPress theme? Try switching and see if you have the same problem. If you do, then it’s either a plugin conflict or WordPress itself – not the theme. Let me know.

I found a work around. I will just have to be more careful about clearing all formatting on the visual editor and specifically adding in the formatting I want, where I want it. I was also cutting and pasting from word so part of it is MY FAULT for not using the “Paste from word” feature in visual…LESSON Learned! Thanks for all your help and Pixelista was not able to help when I asked awhile back. I’m pretty sure it’s a wp thing. Not sure why it all changed with the 3.8 update but now I know what I can do.
