    I’m trying to make it so that the content stays the same width, but there is a background color that spans the entire width of the page (not being constrained to the content box).

    Here’s some code:

    <div class="box">
    <div class="one-half first>stuff</div>
    <div class="one-half>stuff</div>
    </div>

    The idea here is that the class “box” will have a background color that spans the entire page, but the “stuff” content stays within a width. Thoughts or help? Thanks!

    You can wrap this into another class say boxfull that will have 100% width and background color. While box has fixed max width say 960px that should keep columns contents within that area.

    <div class=”boxfull”>
    <div class=”box”>
    <div class=”one-half first>stuff</div>
    <div class=”one-half>stuff</div>
    </div>
    </div>
