I set my default layout setting as Content-Sidebar, however it doesn’t get applied to the Home page which is set as Content. By installing the Genesis Layout Extras plugin, I was able to resolve the issue. I’m currently using the WordPress Genesis Starter Child Theme by Matt Banks and have searched through the theme for a clue without any success. Any ideas how I could fix this without a plugin?

If you look in front page.php you will see it is set to force full page width, just remove that function.
