I'm hoping someone here can help as I've tried every fix and suggestion I can fond on the web.
I'm using a brand new install of WP with the Genesis Sample theme, and trying to get a logo in the header. Unfortunately nothing I do makes the logo show up. I've uploaded the logo, named it logo.png, and resized to 946x164. I've edited the site-title to the following:
.header-image .site-title > a {
background: url(http://pm4ngos.com/wp-content/themes/genesis-sample/images/logo.png) no-repeat left;
float: left;
min-height: 60px;
width: 100%;I've tried pointing this to the corresponding wp-content/uploads folder as well.
Theme Setting for header is set to Image Logo.
Nothing.I checked it with Firebug and it shows the path is there as above, but no logo.
All I get is white space.
I'd appreciate any help.
site is at http://www.pm4ngos.com
Thanks in advance,

You may need to change the Genesis > Theme Settings > Header settings
The CSS code you used isn't the correct method and won't be linked back to the home page when clicked.
August 24, 2014 at 9:10 am #120765trevorknelsonMemberBrad,
Thanks for your response, but I'm still having problems.
I followed your directions (copy and paste of code) and got the following results -
I added the php as shown in your post, leaving everything else the same. That removed the Image logo/Dynamic Text option for the Customize menu, and added a Header menu option to the Appearance menu. In there I was able to upload my logo and set it as the header. In the preview (still in the Header option showing the image uploaded) it showed the Site Title superimposed over the logo. I saved that, removed the site title and tagline, and saved. Still nothing but white space.
Then I went into the style.css page and changed the line that said:
background: url(http://pm4ngos.com/wp-content/themes/genesis-sample/images/logo.png) no-repeat left;
back to just
background: url(images/logo.png) no-repeat left;
and saved.Still nothing.

I just checked your website and code for you. Hope I can help you.Could you double check if you upload the logo to that directory? because nothing showed up when I clicked on the link below.
http://pm4ngos.com/wp-content/themes/genesis-sample/images/logo.pngThat means the logo file is not there.
If you download the genesis zip file and simply upload to the theme directory by wordpress, the directory names should be "genesis" not "genesis-sample". Also to upload to under images folder you need to use FTP or file manager type of tools. You can't upload the image file from wordpress to that directory.
Thanks,

August 30, 2014 at 11:15 am #121895trevorknelsonMemberOD,
Thanks for your help.
I've checked the folder and the logo is there, in exactly the path you show. I think is why I'm so confused. I've been very careful to follow the various directions I've found, and then to systematically undo them if they don't work so I'm back to the original code/set-up. The logo is in the correct folder, and was uploaded using Transmit FTP.I even downloaded the logo.png that's in the folder and opened it to confirm that it's the right one, and it is.
The genesis-sample folder in themes was created by WP. This is a brand new hosting set-up, with a brand new WP install. Once WP was installed I uploaded the Genesis framework (zip file through WP), activated it, then uploaded the Genesis Sample theme (as a child theme) through WP and activated that. Now I'm trying to modify that child. All of the other changes I've made to the style.css have taken fine (link colors, footer change, etc.), and been done on the style.css in the genesis-sample theme folder.
I tried placing the logo in the genesis parent folder and got the same result - nothing.
Brad,
I replaced the original logo with mine and the name and extension are the same (it asked if I wanted to replace). I've also tried using different names and different folders, always making sure (or trying to) that the path in the style.css is pointing the same folder and using the correct image name. I've tried using 'logo', and a few different names, each one gives no result.I've tried all of these changes in both the genesis-sample child theme folders and css, and the genesis parent folders and css - nothing.
I also tried uploading into wp-content/uploads/2014/08 with no effect.
I really do appreciate all the help.
Thanks,
TrevorAugust 30, 2014 at 12:41 pm #121904AnitaKeymasterWhen I type this in the address bar - http://www.pm4ngos.com/wp-content/themes/genesis-sample/images/logo.png, I get a 404 that the image is not found. Check your file folders to see exactly where that image is located.

August 30, 2014 at 12:49 pm #121906trevorknelsonMemberAnita,
I've copied the path (from in Transmit) for the logo below -sftp://www.pm4ngos.com//home/wp_59mrnx/pm4ngos.com/wp-content/themes/genesis-sample/images/logo.png
Does this help?
Thanks,
TrevorAugust 30, 2014 at 1:02 pm #121911Brad DaltonParticipantMe too, thanks Anita
Also, the CSS has been changed:
This is the default which works when your image is correct:
/* Logo, hide text */ .header-image .site-header .wrap { background: url(images/logo.png) no-repeat left; padding: 0; } .header-image .site-title a { float: left; min-height: 164px; width: 100%; }
And this is your CSS
.header-image .site-title > a { background: url(images/logo.png) no-repeat left; float: left; min-height: 60px; width: 100%; }
August 30, 2014 at 1:09 pm #121914AnitaKeymasterTry to upload the image via Media > Add New and then replace the link in the CSS to the new link.

August 30, 2014 at 1:10 pm #121916AnitaKeymasterI wonder what the settings are for the file folder. CHMOD????

August 30, 2014 at 1:46 pm #121919trevorknelsonMemberAnita,
Not sure what CHMOD is. The permission settings for both the genesis-sample and images folder has everything checked except for Group and World Write.I've tried uploading through WP into the image library (though Media>Add), but I'm not sure what path you're referring to, or what to change it to.
Brad,
Are you saying I should remove my piece of css and replace with the two pieces you're showing?Sorry if this is basic stuff I'm missing. Playing in code isn't my forté.
Thanks,
TrevorAugust 30, 2014 at 1:57 pm #121921trevorknelsonMemberOkay, I tried deleting the css code I had and replacing with the sections Brad posted, and still no change.
August 30, 2014 at 2:00 pm #121922AnitaKeymasterNow that you uploaded the image, go back to it in the Media area. Click Edit. On the right side you will see a URL. Copy that url and put it there in the CSS.

August 30, 2014 at 2:06 pm #121923trevorknelsonMemberAnita,
Here's what that section of css looks like now. Still no change. Did I do something wrong?
/* Logo, hide text */
.header-image .site-header .wrap {
background: url(http://www.pm4ngos.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/logo.jpg) no-repeat left;
padding: 0;
}.header-image .site-title a {
float: left;
min-height: 164px;
width: 100%;
}August 30, 2014 at 2:14 pm #121924AnitaKeymasterNo, it looks right. I would almost say, get a fresh copy of the Sample and reload it. Something wonky is in there.

August 30, 2014 at 2:26 pm #121927trevorknelsonMemberAnita,
Do I just delete the 'genesis-sample' folder from the wp-content folder in Transmit (FTP), and then re-install through WP?
Thanks,
TrevorAugust 30, 2014 at 2:31 pm #121928AnitaKeymasterWell, normally you would switch to the default WP theme. Then delete the child theme. Then reinstall it.

August 30, 2014 at 2:56 pm #121935trevorknelsonMemberSo, deleted both Genesis and Genesis Sample and reinstalled both (first activating Genesis and then installing Sample and activating.
Uploaded the logo - nothing (made sure that the header is set to Image Logo)
Change the path per Anita's early suggestion - nothing
Changed the CSS to match what Brad had posted - nothingReally not sure how to continue
May 27, 2015 at 11:45 am #153842talyn77MemberI know this thread is almost 1 year old now. However, I have run into this exact same problem.
I did find a solution in the form of a plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/genesis-custom-headers/
You might want to try this if you are still having this issue.
