What I'm trying to do is change the text hover color for menus, taxonomy, and entry titles.
I've done everything here and then some, I went through my style.css and found every instance of the color in question (#c3251d) and through the "Add Custom CSS" plugin, changed the color in every instance, as shown below (without edits). Inspecting the elements with Firebug shows that the elements colors have been changed, and despite the fact that I've cleared my cache and have no cache plugins, the only thing that I've manged to change is the hover background color. Oh, I also managed to change the font style and size. Why I'm having problems with the hover color when I've successfully changed everything else is beyond me. One thing I should point out is that my primary nav is in the header, using these instructions. For privacy reasons, I'd rather not link to the site.
a {
color: ##c3251d;
text-decoration: underline;
}
.button:focus {
background-color: #c3251d;
color: #fff;
}
.footer-widgets .button {
background-color: #c3251d;
color: #fff;
}
.entry-title a:focus {
color: #c3251d;
}
.genesis-nav-menu .sub-menu .current-menu-item > a:focus {
color: #c3251d;
text-decoration: underline;
}
.nav-primary .genesis-nav-menu .sub-menu .current-menu-item > a {
color: #c3251d;
text-decoration: underline;
}
.archive-pagination .active a {
background-color: #c3251d;
text-decoration: underline;

I make changes directly to my CSS, not to a custom CSS file. If I wanted to change the hover color for menus (for example), I would update this section (I'm not seeing anything related to "hover" in your custom CSS)
.nav-primary .genesis-nav-menu a:hover, .nav-primary .genesis-nav-menu a:focus, .nav-primary .genesis-nav-menu .current-menu-item > a { color: #fff; text-decoration: underline; }
December 17, 2015 at 7:34 am #174052KruciallMemberI understand that there are limitations when it comes to assistance, which is why I provided you with the list of things that I tried that have not worked. I'm not sure if the various methods I have tried have been replaced with new versions of the theme, so what I was hoping for was something like "as of right now, this is the best way to edit this" kind of post.
What I did for the hover was linked in the first sentence, but here it is again, as well as this. I didn't want to post too much CSS because I know that a giant wall of text is... discouraged lol. The CSS I provided was merely to show that I had resorted to removing all instances of the undesired color, to no avail.
I use the plugin because this is my first site and I find that it's more convenient then sorting through hundreds of lines of CSS to find what I'm looking for.
