    Hi there,

    I’m wondering if someone already tried this:

    I’d like to use the Genesis Tabs Widget for displaying the latest 5 posts from my blog with the tab titles displaying the specific post’s category name/or a custom field value of that individual post.

    Right now you can only select one category for each tab…

    Cheers,
    Thomas

    The Genesis Tabs Widget was not made to perform that way. You will need to look for something else that will work the way you want it. Check the WordPress plugin repository.

    Hi,

    I already did that but there’re actually very few plugins which can do that and these plugins don’t work very reliable.

    I’ll try to modify the Genesis Tabs Widget myself then..

    Cheers,
    Thomas

    Hi,

    Any luck getting the Genesis Tabs widget plugin to show custom field info?

    If not, how’d you solve this issue?

    I’m trying to pull custom field info and display it in a sidebar, so it’d be a great help to know how to do this.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

    I let my developer create a modified version of the plugin in order to achieve that. There’re some other modifications but this part of the code should basically provide what you’re looking for:

    </ul><!-- end ul.slides -->

    				<ul class="category-nav">
    					<?php
    					$index = 0;
    						while ( $slider_posts->have_posts() ) : $slider_posts->the_post();
    						?>
    							<li class="tab<?php echo $index; ?>">
    								<a>>
    									<?php
    									$custom_tab_title = get_post_meta( get_the_ID(), 'featured_slider_tab_title', true );
    									if ( $custom_tab_title ) {
    										echo $custom_tab_title;
    									} else {
    										$categories = get_the_category();
    										echo $categories[0]->name;
    									}
    									?>
    								</a>
    							</li>
    						<?php
    						$index++;
    					endwhile;
    					?>
    				</ul>

    			</div><!-- end .flexslider -->
    		</div><!-- end #genesis-responsive-slider -->

    Cheers,
    Thomas

    Yes!

    In your original post, you’re asking to do exactly what I want to do. I want the Genesis Tabs widget to display five posts from the category in each tab. Right now it displays only one. I’m guessing that another nested loop is needed in the code that outputs the posts but I’m a total noob at PHP and Genesis programming. Do you happen to have code for this as well?

    Hi there,

    I think it would be easier to send you the complete modified plugin. I do however need to ask my dev first if he’s OK with this as he programmed it after all.

    Maybe it’s even better to give you his contact details – are you interested in this?

    Cheers,
    Thomas

    Thanks for the reply but I am unable to read it. The FAQs seem to say that private replies are visible only to the poster and the moderators. Is there a way for users to communicate privately through the forum?

    Send me your email address to sttl99@gmail.com, I’ll reply with my dev’s email address…
