Tagged: child theme
Hey guys. I recently made a child theme using the Genesis Sample Theme.
I wanted to create something simple and with no distractions. A few things I did to simplify the layout was unregister the primary, secondary and header widget areas because using those would alter the simple one-column design I was going for. I also changed the container with from 1140px to 960px; I felt the content could be seen much easier in a narrower layout without having to read from left to right too much, make sense?
I integrated fitvid.js, retina.js, and a plugin for a mobile responsive menu I got from a tutorial by Brad Potter.
Usually I work with client sites and add features according to their needs. This is the first child theme I have made with little to no features on it. I made it with the blogger/writer in mind, someone who just wants their readers to focus on content and keep it clean while doing so.
My demo site is: http://adrianvalenz.com/themes/demo/halcyon/features-and-info
“Compos Mentis”
Nice job!
