    try adding this to your style sheet

    #header {
    background-position: center !important;
    }

    I really like the scale no matter how wide you make the website in the body. How can i get the header to do the same?

    That is trickier. You have to do away with the custom header and manually set a background for #header then a seperate background for either #header .wrap or the #title-area depending on what you are trying to accomplish. You also need to make some responsive CSS to compensate if you are using a responsive theme like this.
