I have 2 questions.
1. the first I've posted twice already and need some help: my logo is not clickable to take the customer back to home. How can I fix that?
2. On the subscribe button that is below the featured image on the minimum home page: It is set by default to display whatever text you put in the "site tagline" under the wordpress settings. How can I get this to display something different? I want it to display something like my slogan instead but I'd also like to change the font of that area only. Please please tell me how to do this. I don't want to change it via the genreal settings and "site tagline" b/c it's my understanding that that should be something that's good for seo.
Please take note of my site:
http://www.abbymalonephoto.com You'll notice below the tree image there's text that says "subscribe", and that text is also in the header of the site.
Take note of this site I found here:
His text is different and is not displayed on the page title of his site. I want mine to be custom like that.
January 8, 2013 at 11:54 am #10402Bill MurrayMember1) Have you made any modifications to the default style sheet? After a closer look, are you running the HybridConnect plugin? Try de-activating it and see if your logo works.
2) This is controlled by page-title.php of your child theme. See lines 3-5 for what is output on the home page. It's grabbing the site tagline via PHP code, which you can modify just to put static HTML instead. However, if you're not familiar with how to do this, be careful - because bad PHP can break your site. To change the button text, make the adjustments in this code area as well. If fixing this proves difficult, post back and I'll try to help.
I think others have sometimes replied to your threads but then not at a chance to check back in. Things can get easily missed here.

January 8, 2013 at 2:01 pm #10439abbypandaMemberOn the hybrid connect I recently installed it but it wasnt working before I had it installed. I can still deactivate it.
I think I figured #2 out please let me know if you see any issues to the site

January 8, 2013 at 2:55 pm #10445Bill MurrayMember1) Please deactivate it and leave it deactivated, and then post back. Did you make any changes to either your child theme's functions.php or style.css? If it turns out to be related to this plugin, I'll explain why.
2) Looks good. If you want to change the button text, now you know where to find it.

January 8, 2013 at 3:36 pm #10464abbypandaMemberI deactivated it yes. I did make changes to child theme as per threads on here.
The hybrid connect was installed last night late, after I made some of these posts, so this problem pre dated that plugin.
Now the only plugins I have a cb ping optimizer, google sitemap, google analytics and those I had from teh beginning. It worked at first, then it quit.
January 8, 2013 at 3:38 pm #10465abbypandaMemberIn addition to hte other thread and question yes I did upload the header through appearance > header
January 8, 2013 at 7:48 pm #10550Bill MurrayMemberPlease explain your comment here:
In addition I put the code snipped to remove the site description and header and it’s still not gone from the front page
Basically, your site is not outputting content in the #title-area div. That's likely why your logo isn't clickable. I looked through your posts and didn't see any topic started by you that would relate to that. I assume you made the modification to your theme's functions.php, so if you post the code you added/changed, that will help to get this sorted out.
Let's do it in hurry before Travis takes me up on that bet 🙂

January 8, 2013 at 10:54 pm #10600abbypandaMemberI had originally removed the header and description from the site with the code snippet that they provide in the instructions, but I did not like that so I removed hte code snippet so that it would show again.
I did make soem mods to the functions.php, but I have no idea what I modified: I modified fonts, colors, etc.
I'd have no way to find them specifically. Is there something I can insert to make it clickable? I also saw another thread that said something about not using wordpress for the header and inserting it via code in css is that an option?
January 8, 2013 at 11:04 pm #10602Bill MurrayMemberYou said:

It doesn't appear you removed it. That's the source of your problem. If you can't find the problem, can you post your entire functions.php to a service like Pastebin or Pastie and post a link here?
Changing fonts and colors aren't the source of this problem, and that would be in your style.css, not functions.php. If you make modifications, it's helpful to include a comment that you recognize (such as your initials, a date, and what your purpose was); that makes solving your problem much easier.
Alternately, if you think that is the only modification you made to functions.php and you intended to undo it anyway, you could copy over the functions.php from the original download, which would not undo your font/color changes. Of course, just copy that 1 file - not the entire child theme. And always have a backup when you're doing something like this. Even the best of us can have a typo which can undo a lot of work.

January 8, 2013 at 11:25 pm #10605Bill MurrayMemberI was a little curious about what you did, and I'm guessing you added this to your functions.php:
/** Remove the site title */ remove_action( 'genesis_site_title', 'genesis_seo_site_title' );
?
If so, that's the source of your problem. Remove it. For your logo to be a link, it depends on the site title being there. When you remove it, the logo displays, but it's not an active link. That particular code snippet should be updated to better describe the impact that can come about from using it. If you come across code snippets in the future, it's a good idea to try to get feedback from people in this forum. There are a lot of snippets out there, not all of them good for all things, or even good for anything.

January 8, 2013 at 11:28 pm #10607abbypandaMemberOk so adding a snippet and then removing it has caused this error?
I posted the snippet to remove the header nad removed it, that is why the header is showing now. It's just not clickable
HEre is my pastebin
<script src="http://pastebin.com/embed_js.php?i=xC7W9j0H"></script>
January 8, 2013 at 11:46 pm #10610Bill MurrayMemberSee line 46-47 of your pastebin? Remove them, then check your site and post back.
Adding a snippet and removing it didn't cause your problem. You didn't remove it completely. And I have to amend previous post, because the clickable link also requires the site description. Removing either 1 seems to break it.
I get that it's not clickable. This should fix that. The reason it's not clickable is because of the impact of removing either the title or the description.

January 9, 2013 at 12:02 am #10615abbypandaMemberOk I removed them and refreshed a few times, still doesnt seem to work, can anyone else test it?
January 9, 2013 at 12:14 am #10618Bill MurrayMemberForgive me...it is late...you have the same code duplicated at lines 195-198. You need to remove those lines too.
Then refresh and post back.
