Hi there
I am brand new to this forum and wondering if anyone can help or advise please?
Please excuse the length of the post but I am not php literate and i don't know how else to explain.
I use the Genesis framework with the Dynamik Website Builder Child theme.
I am updating a website and recently installed a Worspress version of a shopping cart called 'EcommerceTemplates.
Integration has been going well. They helped me with a Genesis specific issue with my rightsidebar, However, I am now having issues with the SEO integration. They have a WordPress plugin but it isn't really 'Genesis friendly'.
Theie SEO plugin instructions say to open the header.php file and find the title tag:
<title><?php wp_title( '|', true, 'right' ); ?></title>
and replace it with
<?php echo do_shortcode('[ect_seo pn="'.$productname.'" sn="'.$sectionname.'" pd="'.$productdescription.'" ts="'.$topsection.'" sd="'.$sectiondescription.'" pid="'.$productid.'"]')?>
Obviously the Genesis Header file doesn't look like that anymore.
After contacting Genesis support they said I need to add hooks and functions in the child theme's functions.php and then write a function with the new code and use add_action to replace the default title.
Well! That's a bit alien to me I have to say.
Does anyone with php knowledge have any words of wisdom about this SEO issue please?
Thanks very much in advance.

You would need to remove the default title and add the code for your plugin.
Or
You could use the Genesis SEO settings
or
try another SEO plugin

Thanks for replying.
Support at ecommercetemplates have managed to add an adjusted code with no major issues into header.php (which I know we are not supposed to change in any way).
However, I am still not getting unique title and description tags on the dynamically generated product pages.
No other plugin seems to work with these cart pages, It is a specific plugin for that shopping cart with WordPress and nobody else with this cart seems to be having this issue.
This isn't the first time I have had issues that are only Genesis related when trying to add shopping carts etc. Even the much more simple WooCommerce has issues and on another site I had issues with the sidebar dropping down which Cobalt Apps sorted out.
is there a shopping cart that works specifically with Genesis?
Thanks very much.

Did you have problems with the images with WooCommerce? That has nothing to do with Genesis of course but when I tested out WooCommerce trying to get the image sizes right and non fuzzy was a nightmare.
Do you have any links to sites you built with it so i can see any category pages etc please? Without being rather more clever than i am with php etc I couldn't see how to adapt the category pages to what I wanted - although I really liked the product pages. I walked away from it thinking it was too simple for my needs but I might have been wrong. That said, for a free plugin it is very good.

I suggest you start a new thread for that because its different to your original title. Help With Genesis Title Tag Changes
I would use the default Genesis SEO settings or a plugin Like WordPress SEO.

Yes you're right it is a different title. If I continue with it I'll start a new thread.
