    Hello, I would like my home page to have a different background color to the internal pages.

    I am using the basic Genesis sample theme, and have added some custom widget areas using the Extender plugin.

    I can change the background color easily by going to “appearance > background”, but I would like to have this color on the front the front page only, and retain the default color for all remaining pages and posts.

    Unfortunately I can’t share a link as I am using my local server.

    Any suggestions welcomed, many thanks for your help.

    1. You can add a custom body class
    2. You can use the default home page body class
    3. Or you can even add a 2nd style sheet for the home page

    Try adding this to the end of your child themes style.css file. Or, you may have a special field to put CSS if you’re using a Cobalt Apps.

    [css]
    .home {
    background-color: pink;
    }
    [/css]

    You may find the color needs changing!

    Fantastic, thanks – the CSS snippet that you provided worked perfectly when I pasted it into the Extender CSS builder.

    The pink looks great – but I think that my client might want me to stick to his nice shade of blue :)

    That was a great and simple solution, plus those other tips are great to know about as well.

    I really appreciate your help, many thanks.
