In wordpress how do I make it so that the date displayed is the last time I edited the article and not always just the date I published the article?

Ok thanks but it says I need to edit the index.php, single.php, and page.php files.
Does this mean I need to update the parent theme? What happens when I update Genesis, how do I save my settings then?

The code needs to be copied from the view raw link and pasted at the end of your child theme functions.php file.
It uses the new loop hooks for Genesis 2.0 HTML 5 enabled child themes.
