    Hi,

    Any instructions on how to get the Eleven40 theme custom header look, just like http://demo.studiopress.com/eleven40/

    eg. the top black nav and also, the horizontal text explanation section.

    You need to create a Custom Menu and drag it into the Header Widget Area. The instructions are here – http://my.studiopress.com/setup/eleven40-theme/.
