I would like to implement rel=”next” and rel=”prev”. I understand that I have to add the code to the <head>. How do I do that?
You mean previous and next single post nav links?

This may be vary slightly on your theme, but at the bottom of the post page, there is a section for "scripts". (You may need to scroll a ways down to find it.)
If you paste the links there, they will show in the head.
That is, in the scripts, just past the link tag:
<link rel="next" href="http://www.example.com/article?story=abc&page=2" />
And repeat for each page.
