Hi everyone! I am using the Pretty Pictures Theme found at http://demo.studiopress.com/pretty-pictures/. This original theme features “Continue Reading” at the bottom of the post which is what I want. Although this is the theme I am using, my posts feature this instead [...]. How do I replace [...] with Continue Reading?

Many thanks in advance.

/** Customize the read more link */
add_filter( 'get_the_content_more_link', 'custom_read_more_link' );
function custom_read_more_link() {
return '... [Continue Reading]';
}

The code that TWF posted got miffed in the editor; let’s see if this works better:
/** Customize the read more link */
add_filter( ‘get_the_content_more_link’, ‘custom_read_more_link’ );
function custom_read_more_link() {
return ‘… <a class="more-link" href="’ . get_permalink() . ‘">[Continue Reading]</a>’;
}
This code goes in your functions.php or a plugin (if you’re not familiar with modifying WordPress in this way, then be VERY careful – you can inadvertently take your site down with a simple mistake; make sure you save a copy of functions.php on your computer first, so you can restore it if needed, and have your FTP site access credentials at the ready so you can transfer that original file up to the site if something goes wrong).

Hi everyone,

I am a little hesitant about attempting this especially after reading that if you are using a child theme (which I believe I am) a code will not work unless another function called remove_filter () is performed. For now, I might have to leave it as is untill I am comfortable with making changes and adding codes to functions.php.
