I think that Foodie Pro is just the best Genesis child theme out there. I encourage all clients to actively blog on their websites to add engaging, keyword-rich content so there needs to be a way to elegantly display all the content, archive it and slice and dice it in widgetized areas.
So I have used quite a few Genesis child themes (and a few non-Genesis themes, like "Sparkling" upon client demand) but keep going back to Foodie Pro. It just makes more sense to spend my customization time tweaking Foodie since so much is already in place...
Recently I've tweaked the theme so that a full width homepage slider displays under and flush to the menu (free version of soliloquy and a little css did the trick) and I've also needed to do a lot with the header area on some customer sites as well as tweaking to integrate and customize other software (like booking systems) they were working with. (Damn, some of those plugins have crappy css code!)
Here is the array of my sites built with Foodie & Foodie Pro. Feedback welcome and happy to have a conversation about any of the mods.
Disclaimer: I am not a programmer but have been building sites for almost 2 decades and also worked on software teams on wireframes and the GUI. So I feel like I'm a hack because I never knew if I'd be called to customize the front and mid end on a static html, coldfusion, php, java, ruby on rails, (gasp) asp, or python-driven web product so always have had to just roll with it.)
http://parisnicevacations.net/ (still in progress)
http://www.cavewomancafe.com// (the site that started it all)
http://manzanitamarket.com/ (yet another application for Foodie!)
http://danazia.com/ (some customization with color and header image)
http://eaglesnestmanzanita.com/ (some fun visual effects)
http://healingheartsfair.com/ (customized header and wrapper...I threw this one together...it's my own event so was pretty busy)So I wanna throw a question out there to ya'll: Is there a way to fold Foodie Pro's widgetized blog archive area into other themes like Beautiful, Parallax, News Pro, etc?
Lemmeno! I mean, some way that I don't have to update/redo the hard code every time there is a child theme update! I'm pretty clear that I don't want to be a child theme developer...

I haven't worked with Foodie Pro personally but I know Shay Bocks knows her stuff! What I wanted to comment on was since you've got a list of features you like to use regardless of what theme you're working with, you might want to consider coding those into a core functionality plugin. Here is a tutorial on this topic:

And yes, I have wondered about the best ways to carry those mods over into something other than a child theme as I did not really want the responsibility for updating it everytime wp/genesis updated.
