    I posted this to the WordPress forums, assuming it was a WP issue, and got the oh so helpful response from a moderator to “ask the guys who made your theme.” So here I am.

    I have a red “read more” button in my slider that looks lovely if I right click on it and say “view in new tab.” However, on my site it looks faded, like there is some film over it. I’ve searched the WP forums, and tried all the solutions suggested. It’s saved in sRGB, it is cropped to the right size outside of WP, and there is no opacity on the button.

    I’ve never encountered this problem before. Please help!

    Hi Selena,

    The slider has an opacity setting in the slider CSS of 80%, so your button is being “faded out”, so to say. You will want to override it in your theme’s CSS. This is what’s shown in the slider CSS (I bold-faced the relevant declarations):

    .slide-excerpt {
    background-color: #fff;
    filter: alpha(opacity=80);
    display: block;
    margin: 10px;
    opacity: 0.8;
    padding: 0;
    position: absolute;
    z-index: 8;
    }

    Essentially, anything inside the slide-excerpt div will be faded some. In your theme CSS, you could add a line like this to override the opacity:

    body .slide-excerpt { filter: alpha(opacity=80); opacity: 0.8; }

    Should do the trick.

    Thank you so very much. I thought I had found all of those!
