would like picture in header to be full width of page and in the full header area.
I seen many different "how to's " on how to do this manipulating css code
is this the only way to do it? I am just a beginner - please help.

March 5, 2015 at 1:01 pm #143361emasaiParticipantYou uploaded an image which is 200px wide so it is never going to stretch full width. The title-area is 972px wide, so upload a wider image.

March 6, 2015 at 12:41 am #143404rawfoodsgirlMemberthanks Lynne appreciate a response i was beginning to wonder if anyone sees my post : )
I still am having an issue. I can make my picture wider which i have but when i go to header in the theme it wants to crop it.
I have downsized it to 972 width but verticle is 400 so not sure if that is why it wants to crops it but seems to only want to allow like a 100 for verticle size. anyway to change this easily?
March 6, 2015 at 9:58 am #143442emasaiParticipantThe height of the title-area is set at 110px, which is why your image is being cropped. You will have to increase this so your image does not get cropped. You will also have to change the height in the functions file and the css file. Bear in mind that 400px high is very big for a site, most of your content will be below the fold.

maybe i can change to 200
March 6, 2015 at 10:56 am #143449rawfoodsgirlMemberi changed this in the .css file but it didn't do anything
from 110 to:
/* Logo, hide text */
.header-image .title-area {
padding: 0;
}.header-image .site-title a {
float: left;
min-height: 310px;
width: 100%;
}March 6, 2015 at 11:13 am #143450emasaiParticipantYou need to modify the height in functions.php. Be very careful if you are editing this file through the WordPress dashboard Editor. The best way is to copy the functions file, then modify the original and upload through FTP. If you make a mistake, it is easy to upload the original file. If you make a mistake in the WordPress Editor you will have to call your hosting company if you get the white screen.
Find this and change the height
//* Add support for custom header
add_theme_support( 'custom-header', array(
'header_image' => '',
'header-selector' => '.site-title a',
'header-text' => false,
'height' => 110,
'width' => 320,
) );

Lynne emasai.comMarch 6, 2015 at 11:29 am #143455rawfoodsgirlMemberi cannot find site header or anything about 48 px
this is what i have:
//* Add support for custom header
add_theme_support( 'custom-header', array(
'header_image' => '',
'header-selector' => '.site-title a',
'header-text' => false,
'height' => 410,
'width' => 1090,
March 6, 2015 at 11:29 am #143456emasaiParticipantIn the css file, not the functions file.

If you "bump" your own thread, it drops off the page of "unanswered posts", so it's less likely to be seen and responded to.
