I've just switched to the Lifestyle Pro theme and have never used any of the StudioPress themes before so I'm trying to get a handle on a lot of things, one of them being how to make my header look correct.
I have a number of header sizes that I've had custom made: 1200X100, 1200X150, 960X100, 960X150 and 960X180. I've tried all the sizes and I can't get any of them to even come close to filling up the container. They all sit over to the left hand side of the container and only about 1/3 of the header is showing up.
I want to end up with a full size header that fills the entire container. I've read through a ton of threads about the Lifestyle Pro header issues and I've read and reread the instructions http://wpsites.net/web-design/customize-lifestyle-pro-theme-header-image-area/ but I can't get it right.
Can anybody tell me if I can use any of those sizes to get a full size header on my site? And if so, what coding changes do I need to make to my functions.php and style.css files to get it to fill up the entire container?
Thanks so much!

Padding
.site-header { background-color: #333; padding: 48px; overflow: hidden; }
And the wrap:
.wrap { margin: 0 auto; max-width: 1140px; }
Why can't you reduce your image to 1140px as this would be the ideal max width?
Another option would be to increase the max width of the content sidebar wrap which would involve increasing the content area and/or the sidebar width.

So I cropped my header to 1140X150 (I can't change the height as it was custom made at that height) and changed the coding in the functions.php file to reflect a height of 150 and width of 1140. But when I upload that to my site it's still not showing the entire header; I'm still only seeing about 1/3 of it sort and the part I'm seeing is sitting towards the left hand side of the container, in the middle of that section. I have a caching plugin so I've emptied the cache to be sure that wasn't an issue and that didn't help either.
I'm following the instructions in http://wpsites.net/web-design/customize-lifestyle-pro-theme-header-image-area/ but I haven't even gotten to the style.css changes yet because I can't get the header to look as it should (according to the instructions) with the changes I've made to the functions.php file yet.
Any suggestions?
