I'm looking for a membership plug in that will allow me to limit the NUMBER of items a person can access each month based on the membership level. I know many of them offer the option of drip content but my understanding is that I choose the sequence and frequency there. I have a large resources library dealing with many different topics and I'd like for members to be able to choose - say 3 or 5 - resources per month that fit the challanges they're currently facing. So I want the user to pick the resources from all the resources available. Hopefully that makes sense. Does anyone know of a plug in where that's possible?

Long time no see! Hope you're doing well. 🙂
I don't know of any membership plugins that specifically allow you to restrict content based on the number of accesses or views. I've researched a lot of different ones and I've never seen anything that matches what you described.
That said, one thing you might consider is packaging the resources as products - a person could buy a month of access to 3 (or however many) resources, then choose the ones they want from a list. It would likely require some manual action on your part to make sure users had access to the correct sections, but if you don't have a ton of members it could be doable.
For example, if you used the membership capabilities in Premise, you could create an access level for each resource. Then you could grant three different access levels to User A depending on what s/he purchased, or 3 others to User B who chose different options. I believe you can also set an "expiration date" of 30 days for that access level. I hope that's less confusing than it sounds to me right now.
Another option may be to contact the dev for Restrict Content Pro - Pippin is really good about adding functionality or customizations at reasonable rates. Hope that helps!

Who would have thought this would be so hard. It's really just like Audible. I know I'm not the only one looking for it. Drip content works well if you have a course but if you're an expert and want the user to choose the resources based on their needs rather than a pre-designed formula, nothing. And to be honest, you completely lost me in the example you used. Which just tells me I'd never successfully do it! But I will contact the developer you refereed. Do you know the best want to contact him?
Thanks again!

An extension is being developed. But the reviews on that plugin are awful. And you know, I'm very much a beginner so I wanted something that was user friendly and would actually work. Have you used the plugin before?
October 19, 2013 at 4:57 pm #67723nutsandboltsMemberNo, I've never used it personally. I use Premise for all my own member sites. I just remembered seeing the comparison to Audible and thought it might be worth a look, but not if the reviews are bad! :/
Definitely contact Pippin to see if he can magic something up for Restrict Content Pro - he's awesome. There should be a contact form on his site.
