I guess I thought when I bought the Metric Child Theme I’d get the top level “menu” (excuse terminology, I am a database guy and new to WP)  as a starting point e.g. Home Sample Page etc as shown on demo next to “Metric Child Theme”  which I could then rearrange/delete etc to create my own with built in mouse-over highlighting and all that.   Can I import this from the metric demo theme?

    Thanks

Have you gone into Appearance – Menus – and created a menu?

I did but it shows up just above the photo and not in the same place as the Metric Demo.  Also I don’t want to create a menu form scratch – would rather use the demo menu as a start. So, can I do that and if so, how?

You don’t have to create a menu from scratch. Luckily, WordPress, Genesis and the Metric Child Theme already have the basic menu structure built, for you. However, you do have to “add” the links, to your menu.
