I'm trying to setup the Go Portfolio plugin with Minimum Pro. I'd like to use the existing Custom Post Type and Categories which are already found in the Minimum Pro template. Can somebody in the know help me with this? Thanks!

If you really want to use the plugin, remove custom post type code from the theme and use plugin to create "portfolio" post type.
Or create custom post type with a different name.

Can you create a post type within Go Portfolio or do you need a separate plugin like Type?
I tried using Sridhar Katakana's Filterable Portfolio with Minimum Pro, but I failed miserably and I'm not sure why. I did everything in the tutorial, but I couldn't get my posts to display.

It's a shame I can't use the CPT in the Minimum Pro theme, but I guess the good news is I can apply Go Portfolio to any StudioPress template. Do plugins like this significantly affect the website's load time? Is there a limit to the number of plugins I should use per website?
March 27, 2015 at 1:03 pm #145867RavenManiacParticipantOkay, I just tried this out and it works friggin great! Lots of control and very easy to implement. The only issue I'm having is a little confusion between the Go Portfolio CPT and Minimum Pro's CPT.
Do you think it's better to disable the Minimum Pro CPT and if so, how would I go about doing that? What about Minimum Pro's categories and tags?
March 28, 2015 at 12:40 am #145912Davinder Singh KainthMemberYeah I told you - very powerful plugin. Such plugin do dump lot of additional code. You can use cache plugin to balance out things.
To remove portfolio cpt from minimum theme. Open functions.php file and remove following code. After that go to permalinks section and click save changes button once.
//* Create portfolio custom post type add_action( 'init', 'minimum_portfolio_post_type' ); function minimum_portfolio_post_type() { register_post_type( 'portfolio', array( 'labels' => array( 'name' => __( 'Portfolio', 'minimum' ), 'singular_name' => __( 'Portfolio', 'minimum' ), ), 'exclude_from_search' => true, 'has_archive' => true, 'hierarchical' => true, 'menu_icon' => get_stylesheet_directory_uri() . '/images/icons/portfolio.png', 'public' => true, 'rewrite' => array( 'slug' => 'portfolio' ), 'supports' => array( 'title', 'editor', 'author', 'thumbnail', 'excerpt', 'trackbacks', 'custom-fields', 'comments', 'revisions', 'page-attributes', 'genesis-seo' ), ) ); }
and this one also
//* Change the number of portfolio items to be displayed (props Bill Erickson) add_action( 'pre_get_posts', 'minimum_portfolio_items' ); function minimum_portfolio_items( $query ) { if ( $query->is_main_query() && !is_admin() && is_post_type_archive( 'portfolio' ) ) { $query->set( 'posts_per_page', '6' ); } }

March 30, 2015 at 8:45 am #146106Davinder Singh KainthMemberI prefer using WP super cache + WP minify plugins together.
