Aloha!

I’m not having success with the code snippet to get a custom Favicon to show.

Is there a plugin or could anyone help me get this set up.

I’m not very code friendly :)

Thank you kindly!

All you need to do is this:

(1) Upload the favicon (named favicon.ico) to your site’s root directory. That will enable it to show when you’re in your WP dashboard.

(2) In your theme’s folder, look for the images folder. The standard Genesis favicon will be in there already, so just delete it and upload yours.

It can take 2-3 weeks for your browser to “forget” the old favicon and update, but if you visit your site from a browser you’ve never used to go the site before, you should see it immediately.

Aloha!

Im not sure how to create a file with the extension .ico ?

I found the folder on my server though. Thanks so much for helping.

I’d also like to activate the author box. Do you know how to do that?

Thanks again,
Adam

Once you’ve saved the file as a .jpg or .png, you should be able to rename it as favicon.ico – your computer might warn you that the file extension isn’t recognized, but you can generally ignore that and save it that way anyway.

To activate the author box, go into Users > Your Profile in the dashboard. Enter your bio text in the paragraph field, then scroll down and find the checkbox to activate the author box on your posts.

In functions.php of the theme ….
add_filter( ‘genesis_pre_load_favicon’, ‘custom_favicon_filter’ );
function custom_favicon_filter( $favicon_url ) {
return ‘http://www.mydomain.com/xxxx/xxxx/favicon.ico’;
}
(Upload the .ico file to somewhere on the site and have return link show it.)
