I am in the process of building http://www.goodnewsalliance.com  I want to use my own custom logo for the news theme header.  It appears that I am forced to use 960 X 100 pixels.  How do I upload my own logo and make it any size I choose?

    Thanks-Matt

Add your logo to a transparent 960×100 canvas and then upload that image file.

Thank you for the response.  This is my first site and I am not familiar with the concept of creating a transparent canvas.  I do not have photoshop unfortuantely.  thanks

You could try editing the dimensions of the custom header function in functions.php and you may need to mess with the style rules as well.

And there are free image editing programs you could use such as Gimp

Yep, make the canvas the same dimensions as specified in the Header panel then place your logo onto that canvas in the position you want it to appear in the header of the site then save that file with transparency intact, i.e. as a PNG-32 or Gif

Thanks.  I will download gimp and see how i do.   Surprising they did not build in an EZ to use editor.
