I am using latest Genesis, Genesis Extended plugin and using the Enterprise template.
The 404.php is displayed in Chrome and FireFox.
In IE 9 I get the browser-default "Page not found".
In IE 10 I get a blank page and when viewing using "View Source" there is some javascript garbage in the page. Admittedly this is my wife's computer so there may be other factors, such as other browser add-ons. In any case I am NOT seeing the 404.php output.
Any ideas?

Thanks
June 3, 2013 at 9:39 am #43845rfmeierMemberIt looks like the application is not being directed to the 404 template for IE (I tested 7 through 10) . Just getting a standard 404 http response. I am not sure why this is happening specifically for IE.
Have you tried disabling plugins? Any custom theme functionality targeting IE browsers?
June 3, 2013 at 11:35 am #43858lwoodsParticipantSorry the not responding immediately. Was out of the office. I have not turned off all of my plug-ins. A little scared to do that since I have quite a bit of the site that is built on them and don't want to lose everything. As far as the child template is concerned I can't believe that it is the problem since it's a StudioPress theme.
I'll try to figure out something.
Thanks
June 3, 2013 at 11:44 am #43864rfmeierMemberHello,
You probably don't need to turn off any/all of the site's plugins. At contemplate which one could be a possible culprit. Any custom .htaccess modifications in the works?
June 3, 2013 at 12:23 pm #43882lwoodsParticipantThis reply has been marked as private.June 3, 2013 at 12:52 pm #43891lwoodsParticipantWell, I switched the theme to Twenty Eleven and the problem went away. Of course, it turned off Genesis Extender but after returning to Enterprise and reactivating Extender and rebuilding my home page the problem is back BUT I have discovered that the problem is in either WYSIWYG and/or the Custom Form widgets. When I went back to Enterprise and activated Extender I got the layout without the widget areas set up. No problem with the 404. Got the Genesis one. BUT when I loaded the widget areas with the WYSIWYG and Custom Form widgets I was back to the "File Not Found 404".
But, now the question: How do I turn off the caching that is going on in IE? It is darn near impossible to test for what the problem is because I keep getting old cached pages. I find if I refresh enough times I finally get the latest page, but this leads to confusion as to what I did to cause the problem.
Suggestions?
TIA
June 3, 2013 at 1:00 pm #43895rfmeierMemberHmmm, well browser page response cache is pretty much based on the url. So going to a 404 page and appending a query parameter like ?asdfd=1231 should make the browser retrieve a new version. Howver, I tried that and I am still getting the same result in IE.
Do you have server side caching running?
June 3, 2013 at 1:07 pm #43898lwoodsParticipantNo caching plugins. I am using HostGator shared hosting.
Try it now. I have pulled out all of the widgets from the home page.
June 3, 2013 at 1:10 pm #43900lwoodsParticipantI give up. It WAS working (404) without any widgets. Now it's not. I have to get on to something else so I have to work on this later this evening.
FRUSTRATING!!!
