    Hello,

I have no idea what’s going on, but when I opened my client’s website to add content it forced me to upgrade the WP database before taking me to the Dashboard.   Now I can’t view anything but the TEXT tab when working on posts / pages.  When I click on VISUAL it doesn’t do anything.   I’ve tried deactivating the few plugins on the site and that doesn’t help.  Does anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks!

Several others are having the same problem. You may want to report this to the support team.

Hmm…how do I do that? I thought their support team monitored the Support Forums?  Thanks!

From the thread I referenced above:

flush any caching plugins you might be running, as well as server and/or browser caches.
deactivating all plugins (yes, all) to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s). If you can’t get into your admin dashboard, try resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin (read http://bit.ly/UhpkLl if you need help). Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems. Also remember to deactivate any plugins in the mu-plugins folder. The easiest way is to rename that folder to mu-plugins-old (readhttp://bit.ly/WMrMM5 for more information on mu-plugins)
switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems. If you can’t log in to change themes, you can remove the theme folders via FTP so the only one is twentyeleven . That will force your site to use it.
manually upgrading. When all else fails, download a fresh copy of the latest.zip file of 3.5 to your computer, and use that to copy up. You may need to delete the wp-admin and wp-includes folders on your server. Read the Manual Update directions first: http://bit.ly/RbU5qG

Really pay attention to this one: Note: You can still have this problem if you have *ever* used the BulletProof Security in the past, even if you have removed it. If you are experiencing problems with menus and widgets and the editor and similar not working, and you have ever used BulletProof Security, even if you’re not using it anymore, then look for an .htaccess file in the /wp-admin directory, and delete it if it is there.

    Susan,

I deactivated all of my plugins and manually installed WP (for the first time!), following the instructions you linked to, and it’s still not loading the WYSIWYG editor or the buttons in the TEXT tab.  Thoughts?  Since this is something you’ve seen / done before, would you be willing to help me get this fixed via GoToMeeting? I’m happy to pay you.  I have to get this site finished for a client, and I’ve wasted hours on this now today.  Thanks!

Brian – it’s not something that I’ve seen myself – it’s something that I read about that helped another user on the forum. In her case, it helped her, but I’ve heard of others with similar issues who haven’t been able to resolve it.

Let me see if I can find someone who can troubleshoot for you today.

Brian, I used Join.me with another forum member last night and we did everything imaginable to get the tabs back and it just wouldn’t work. I’ve seen some talk that it’s a WP issue and that there may be a fix shortly for it. I cannot say for sure, but just recommend that you document what you’ve already done and put in a support ticket anyway.

Yeah, that does NOT make me happy.  Good grief!  What a mess, especially for my client who is dead set on going live Tuesday!  He’s going to love this.

It’s not an issue with the themes or framework.

It’s an issue with WordPRess 3.5.

Please see the WordPress.org support forums.

Andrea, we went through that last night and still didn’t work for a member on here. Is there anyway to post a Sticky at the top of the forums for this so people will know? It might eliminate multiple forum entries for the same subject matter. Just a thought.

Thanks, Andrea.  I appreciate that it’s not a StudioPress / Genesis issue, but that doesn’t help.  LOL

    Grrr.

Just a side note for Brian, I am using Outreach on a client site and have fully upgraded and I don’t have this problem.

    Anitac,

Are you using the new responsive version or the older version of Outreach?

The new version. What hosting are you on? I am on Godaddy.
