I am new to WordPress and know nothing about it, but have built websites before (years ago). I know that I want to use Genesis/Child Themes. Is Genesis free with WordPress? If it is free, please tell me where to begin. I see 'Genesis Admin Bar Plus' is active, under my plug-ins, but I don't see it anywhere else on my dashboard. Like, what do I do with an active plug in that doesn't do anything, lol? I am ready to walk in front of a moving vehicle!!! What am I doing wrong? I have a few different Genesis plug-ins under my plug-ins, but they are not active, because I keep getting this message, when I click activate..... "Sorry, you cannot activate the Genesis Featured Page Extras plugin unless you have installed the latest version of the Genesis Framework."
So, what is this active Genesis Admin Bar Plus that does nothing? I'd really appreciate your help! I don't know if you need this or not, but my URL is http://mishelruggiero.com/
THANK YOU! Mishel

To use plugins for Genesis, you must purchase the framework and use it with a Genesis child theme. The Genesis Admin Bar plugin shouldn't activate without Genesis, but it may be a glitch - you won't see it anywhere unless a Genesis theme is active on the site.
Hope that helps!

on WordPress? I am new to WordPress and have no idea what I am doing,
YET----lol. I am fast learner, though. Currently, I am just sleep deprived
from trying to figure all of this stuff out for days.I really appreciate the help!
February 4, 2014 at 9:09 pm #88669nutsandboltsMemberI actually have a tutorial for that as well - here's a video as well as text that will walk you through installing Genesis and your child theme onto WordPress: http://www.nutsandboltsmedia.com/how-to-install-the-genesis-framework-on-your-wordpress-site/

Thanks and I will follow you on Twitter. = )
February 4, 2014 at 9:13 pm #88673nutsandboltsMemberYou'll definitely want to get some rest first, if you aren't used to installing themes. But it only takes maybe 10 minutes to get it installed. Setup will take some more time, but getting it uploaded to your site is pretty easy.

February 4, 2014 at 9:20 pm #88681mishelruggieroMemberHey... I have my site is not visible to others and I want to keep it that way for now. Will it stay that way, once I get going with Genesis??
February 4, 2014 at 9:23 pm #88683nutsandboltsMemberIt should, depending on the way you've got that set up. If you're using a plugin, it will still be active and functional once Genesis is installed.
