I am working with news theme and I want to add a portfolio. I have tried with some plugins but they are not very accurate, does genesis has got a portfolio pluging or recommends one that works fine with genesis framework?
Adding a porftolio is easy.
Use this code as a guide. http://wpsites.net/web-design/add-portfolio-page-to-studiopress-education-theme/
Brad Dalton has written 1961 Genesis tutorials & 4000+ Code Snippets .
right, I have started changing from xhtml to html5 but something went wrong as you can see....
by the way, I already use Genesis 2.0.1
as I have to continue working, I have replace the functions.php and css again until you tell me how to proceed, thanks!
Another solution is to introduce some code to a portfolio plugin, I have tested OTW portfolio, it works fine with the archive page
but it doesn't with the page of the portfolio
although it is configured to be without any sidebar....
So I deactivated the OTW pluging because I don't like the result. I wait for you, please don't abandoned me!!
As Brad mentions, you can add a portfolio. The problem is that it's not a very good portfolio. Must of the plugin portfolios that I've found are both cumbersome and unattractive.
I'd recommend considering a separate theme or site for your portfolio. Instead of having it as a page on your site, create a subdomain like portfolio.mydomain.com and link to it from your web site.
That opens up a lot of potential to use other WordPress themes that do a much better job of displaying your images. Just remember to have the menu system of that sub-domain theme point back to your main site.
you are right, maybe a separate theme for a portfolio could be the solution, however, I found a plugin which works with genesis:
There is a free version, but the good one for me is the pro version (about 24$), the result is very nice:
So we can close this thread, thanks both of you!
