A client has asked me to setup their "blog" portion of their website to appear on an existing page. In the past I would just go into WordPress Admin > Settings > Reading and change the Front Page Display settings.
But in this case, I have already built a Custom Home Page and if I change the setting in the above area, the Home page goes bye bye.
I've gone through the Codex and saw http://codex.wordpress.org/Pages#A_Page_of_Posts - but will this effect EVERY page? I just want it one particular page. Using Genesis, wasn't sure if the rules were different.
And to clarify, on this "Page" they want the 5-10 Most recent posts from a variety of categories, not just one category.
You should be able to achieve what you are looking for by changing the template for the page in question to "blog", rather than "default".
Perfect! Didn't even think of that - thank you!
You're welcome. I'll close this as "resolved".
