Considering Genesis over Divi to update my site http://www.Pad-man.com. I have little knowledge, (enough to get a WP site up using Biscaya) but no coding experience, other than copy and paste. I am considering Genesis over Divi. I will undertake the task initially. If successful I will no doubt need a developer of a hired hand. I have very basic knowledge but enough to accomplish a basic site using Genesis and a chid theme. There are one or two basic features I would like to have and need to know if Genesis is the right choice for me. I would like to be able to have a feature (similar to Evite if you will), where I send out an invitation to an event, the user may respond, Yes, No or Maybe and receive updates to the invite, similar to Evite. It would be great if the feature or I guess Plugin has some data capture capabilities to give me an ability to see reports of the events if possible. I would also like to have a Paypal feature if the user confirms YES to the event then a paypal payment is processed. Are these features, (Plug-ins?) available to me in Genesis? If so what are the additional costs besides the framework and child theme need? Thank you in advance for your help.

There are dozens of Events plugins tro choose from. Some are free and some are premium

I assume the DP will give me the drag and drop functionality of Divi with the solid performance of Genesis framework and a StudioPress Child theme. Also sounds like the event manager is a common tool and not to difficult to deploy. that you for your time and help Brad.

I'm not braddalton 🙂 but wanted to chime in here.Though it's been a while since you posted your question, I wanted to say that I'm a long-time Studiopress/Genesis user. However, I recently tried the Divi theme for a new project, thinking the drag and drop feature would make it easier for my client to maintain once I turned it over to her. However, I ended up "returning" and getting refunded by Elegant Themes after only a few days. I went back to using Studiopress for that same client and do not regret it - it's always presented the best framework, themes and documentation, in my opinion. And to give my client drag/drop functionality, I think I'll be using Beaver Builder. They have a limited/free version, and a couple of annual paid versions. It looks really sturdy. There are others I ran across, also....
Anyway... to wrap up, I would encourage you to give Genesis a go, if you haven't already decided.
Hope that helps 🙂
